Walmart drops plan to rival Netflix

Apparently, the prospects of increasing the costs associated with providing original content in order to compete with Netflix was too daunting. Netflix recently announced plans to increase its subscription rate in order to offset the cost of creating original content. However, NBC Universal announced plans to create its own streaming service. Will NBC create new content or simply curate existing content, remains to be seen?
